Spirits in the Wind

October 26th, 2007

Blowing hard, it seeps through the walls
Not caring if you sleep, crying it calls
Howling and whistling for all to hear
The spirits playing, drawing near
Slamming shutters, creaking doors
Scattering dust along the floor
They swirl and spin cheerfully along
Shrieking out their joyful song
Bustling around in euphoric play
It does not matter if night or day
Back out the walls to the night they blow
Off to the next house and town they go
Chasing and running, rustling leaves
Shaking the windows, bending the trees
Gusting on by, they will come again
On blustery evening they return my friend
